PRAGUE AUG 29 - SEPT 1 2013
Some 25 GB Vets descended on the beautiful city of Prague in the Czech Republic for the 3rd European Masters which took place from 29 August - 1st September 2013.
After some early shades of Cologne, where the organisation was abysmal, the tournament was run extremely well for the 500+ competitors.
Centred and organised from the Top Hotel (it’s name, not necessarily the best!) where a perspex show court was erected on the first day of the tournament! There were 6 venues, each generally offering excellent courts and facilities – even one which had been devastated by the recent floods and the courts were still being rebuilt as we arrived!
The tournament ended on the Sunday evening with a presentation of trophies followed by a superb buffet dinner and dancing until the early hours.
The GB Vets came away with 10 medals – 4 Gold, 1 Silver and 5 Bronze.
Gold: Chris Ansell (O65), Bett Dryhurst (O65), Graham Fisher (O70), John Woodliffe (O75).
Silver: Lance Kinder (O75).
Bronze: Mandy Akin (O50), Nigel Belle (O70), Rod Boswell (O65), Alex Richardson (O75).
Also competed: Tammy Bennett, Lynne Davies, Myron Evans, Alison Goy, Stuart Hardy, Tom Hendry, Mark Hildred, Gordon Kerr, Sam Mueller, Ripley Oyler, Nick Peel, Alan Thomson, Chris Wilson, Darren Withey. |
